Adelboden

Adelboden – there are countless legends on how this resort in the west of the Bernese Oberland came by its rather aristocratic name, which actually means “noble ground”. Agreement has never been reached, but all agree the name is certainly fitting. The valley, altitude 1350 metres, is easy to reach, spacious, spectacular and very sunny. The surrounding summits are not overwhelmingly close but can be admired from a distance.

Today, Adelboden attracts relaxation seekers as well as action enthusiasts. 56 mountain transport facilities, 170 km of ski pistes, over 24 km of cross-country ski runs and a wide network of hiking trails attract nature lovers to the mountains - for instance to beautiful and enigmatic Engstligenalp, which has been listed in the Federal Archives of Cultural Landscapes of National Importance since 1996.
